Welcome to Seventh Grade Pre AP English Language Arts at MMJHS! Pre-AP is a curriculum that focuses on skills and concepts for building success in Advanced Placement classes (which begins in tenth grade) and Advanced Placement tests. Pre-AP lays the foundation by developing a “planned program of teaching skills and concepts over several years.” Pre-AP is based on the following beliefs: (1)Students can perform well at rigorous academic levels. (2) We can prepare students for higher intellectual engagement by starting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge as early as possible. Accelerating the Reading curriculum by working on current grade standards as well as standards for the following grade is vital to the rigor of the PreAP English/Language Arts program. There will be summer reading. Students will have homework throughout the school year.
