I am quite sure that during your reading that you encountered some words that you did not know their meanings. List 10 words that you did not know the meaning of in your reading. List the word, its meaning, and the chapter where the word is located. All of your words can not come from the same chapter. Choose a word from 10 different chapters. One big idea of The Westing Game is that people aren't who they appear to
be. People are both literally and figuratively in disguise. Some characters are totally different on the outside than they are on the inside. Other characters are constantly changing who they are on the outside. Many of the characters make judgments about the others based on how they appear. For example, Angela is very beautiful on the outside; however, she's not very sure of herself on the inside. Angela turns out to be the bomber! What does the Westing Game teach us about how people appear on the outside? Explain. Give an example in your explanation of a character who is not who he or she appears to be. What do we learn from that character. How does this character change in the end? Using the websites listed on what makes a good mystery, list the traits of a mystery. Are these characteristics found in the Westing Game? Explain. Use at least 3 examples from the text to support your answer.
