Sam Westing is very patriotic. He really loves America! List three examples in the story that relate to America or show how Sam really loves his country. Explain how his love for America relate to the mystery.
One example is that he used different patriotic phrases in his will. The second was the way to find the answer was to find the missing words to the American Anthem. The third was that after the Westing Game he blew up his house with fireworks dedicated to Fourth of July.

1. At the reading of the will he was in his casket dressed in an Uncle Sam costume, including the hat.
2. In the story, it indicated that he always acted in the 4th of July pageants as well as having a fireworks show at his home.
3. His initial clues were the words from America the Beautiful and at the end of the game his last fireworks show ignited at the Westing House.

First example in the story about relating to America is the newspaper article about Sam Westing talking about him being a great patriot and being famous for his fourth of July celebrations. The second example is when he says "So take stock in America, my heirs, and sing praise of this generous land" in the fourth point in his will, knowing the players will have to sing America the Beautiful. The third example is Sam Westing's was figured dressed as Uncle Sam in the coffin, even with the tall hat. The mystery was centered around finding the missing words in the song America the Beautiful. The answer had to be found and stated on the fourth of July, which was also Crow's birthday.

My first example is that every 4th of July Sam Westing had a party where he would dress up as patriotic symbols. ( such as Uncle Sam )
My second example is that all the clues were words from America the Beautiful and the will had some lines from it.
My third example is that he was dressed as Uncle Sam in his casket.
My fourth and final example is that Sam Westing ( Sandy Mcsouthers, Barney Northrup, and Mr.Eastman ) died on the 4th of July.

Sam Westing loved America. He loved the 4th of July and said, "Happy Fourth" on November but this might have something to do with him being four people too. Sam used the words to "America the Beautiful" in the clues. He liked dressing as Uncle Sam.

Sam Westing's love for America relates to the mystery because he had a lot of Fourth of July parties, which is why he had all the explosives in his house. People could have confused those with bombs. Three examples of his love for America include; 1) he was dressed as Uncle Sam at his funeral, 2) he celebrated the Fourth of July every year, and 3) the clues that the heirs were given put together spelled out the song "America the Beautiful".

1. He put on 4th of july shows every 4th of july when he dressed up as different people 2. Inthe clues he had they were part of a great american song 3. At the end his house exploded with fireworks
There are many examples in this story which show how patriotic Sam Westing is. It all begins on July 4th with the delivery of the letters from Barney Northrup to the heirs. Next, we find out on page 22, “a great patriot, Samuel Westing was famous for his fun-filled Fourth of July celebrations.” He had acted as Benjamin Franklin before, but he was best remembered for his surprise role as Betsy Ross. At sunset, he would put on his Uncle Sam costume and set off fireworks which could be viewed up to thirty miles away from his front lawn. Even in his “death” he showed his patriotism. On page 27 we find out that he is in his coffin dressed again in his Uncle Sam costume, including the top hat. In his will he refers to himself as, “Uncle Sam.” Finally, he uses the lyrics to the song, “America, the Beautiful,” to create the clues to his mysterious death.

Sam Westing showed his love for America during the game by having his fake body dressed as Uncle Sam in the coffin. He also showed it by the clues all being words from the song "America the Beautiful." He also ended the game with the huge fireworks show that burned his house down.
